While India Inc. is gearing up for a major reform in Indirect Tax structure through introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Google India seems to be unhappy about the proposed GST Law.
According to an ET Now report, Google India CFO has met top Indian tax officials, citing resulting difficulties in state wise segregation of cloud services. “International service providers may be forced to scale down India operations on GST rollout,” Google India is reported to have told the government officials.
“State-wise registration will cause compliance issues. International service providers may rejig operations out of India, if state-wise registration is implemented” Google added.
GST shall subsume a number of central and state level taxes and is expected to bring down tax evasion.
