Two more states have ratified the GST Constitutional Amendment Bill, namely Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh.
Chhattisgarh assembly unanimously ratified the Bill after six hours of discussion. The CM of the state called it as “moment of pride” for the Assembly. Opposition leader, T.S.Singh Deo expressed concern over GST Council.
“It is to be constituted in such a way that without the Centre’s approval, the States will not be able to push their demands,” he said.
Himachal Pradesh assembly also passed the Bill. The CM of the state called it a single biggest tax reform he said it would help in trade, services and commerce.
With this 5 states, in total, have ratified the Bill. Assam, Bihar and Jharkhand had earlier passed it.
