Bihar’s monsoon session in assembly ended on 4th August but given the need of the hour, a special session has been called on August 166 to pass GST Constitutional Amendment Bill.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has earlier said that the GST could add about 8,000 crores to Bihar’s revenue every year. Rajya Sabha had earlier cleared the Bill on 3rd August.
On 9th August, the Lok Sabha unanimously passed the GST constitution amendment bill. It was then forwarded to states for ratification. The bill needs to be cleared by at least 15 of the 29 states. The government hopes to get this done within the next 30 days.
On Friday, Assam had become first state to clear the bill after both houses of parliament unanimously passed it.
